The neutral wire in the distribution box is reversed
Reversed polarity occurs when an electrical outlets wiring is installed backwards (hot in the neutral screw, and neutral in the hot screw). The screws for these wires are color coded. The neutral wire should be connected to the silver screw, and the hot wire connected to the gold. The neutral wire, which is always white, serves as the grounded conductor, completing the circuit by providing the return path for the current back to the panel. It is designed to carry current away from the device and back to the electrical panel.
