Connect the Incoming Supply The main power from the utility (either single-phase 120/240V in the US or 230V in many other countries) enters the house through an energy meter. From the meter, the live (L) and neutral (N) wires are routed to the main circuit breaker (MCCB or double-pole MCB) in the distribution box . This main breaker acts as the primary switch for the entire household. 3. Install Protective Devices Inside the distribution box, install RCCBs (Residual Current Circuit Breakers) for earth fault protection and single-pole or double-pole MCBs for individual circuits . The main breaker feeds power to these protective devices, which then supply electricity to sub-circuits like lighting, outlets, and appliances. 4. Connect Neutral and Ground All neutral wires from the sub-circuits are connected to the neutral bus bar, and all earth wires are connected to the ground bus bar, which is linked to the house grounding system . Proper grounding ensures safety and prevents electrical hazards. 5. Distribute Power to Sub-Circuits From the MCBs, outgoing wires are connected to the respective circuits in the house. Each MCB controls a specific area or appliance, allowing isolation in case of overload or short circuit . 6. Verify Connections and Test Double-check all connections for correct polarity and secure fastening. After ensuring everything is properly connected, turn on the main breaker and test each circuit for correct operation.
