Can broadband be installed inside an optical distribution box

Role of the Optical Distribution Box

Without an ONT, devices cannot interpret the optical signals, so connecting broadband directly to a distribution box will not provide usable internet .

Typical Setup

1. Fiber from the ODB → runs to the ONT inside the premises.
2. ONT → converts optical signals to electrical signals.
3. Router or device → connects to the ONT via Ethernet for internet access. Some ONTs include multiple Ethernet ports, Wi-Fi, and VoIP support, but the key function is the optical-to-electrical conversion .
