Fiber optic cable from Russia to Palau

There is currently no direct fiber optic cable connecting Russia to Palau; Palau's international connectivity relies on the SEA-US and Echo submarine cable systems.

Palau's Existing Submarine Cable Infrastructure

Palau's first international submarine cable, Palau Cable 1 (PC1), was completed in 2017. It connects Palau to a branching unit on the SEA-US cable system, linking Palau to Guam and providing access to the broader internet backbone in the United States . This cable was financed with support from the Asian Development Bank and is operated by the Belau Submarine Cable Corporation (BSCC), a state-owned entity established in 2016 to manage Palau's fiber optic network . Palau is also constructing a second submarine cable, Palau Cable 2 (PC2), which will branch off the Echo cable network. Once completed, this system will provide direct connections to Singapore and the mainland United States, further diversifying Palau's international connectivity . The project is supported by a trilateral partnership involving the United States, Australia, and Japan, aiming to improve digital infrastructure, internet reliability, and access to government services in Palau .

Connectivity to Russia

Currently, there is no submarine cable linking Palau directly to Russia. Palau's international internet traffic is routed through Guam, Singapore, and the United States via the SEA-US and Echo systems. Any connection to Russia would require additional regional or transcontinental submarine cable infrastructure, which is not part of Palau's existing or planned projects .
