Step 1: Check Fiber Availability

Step 2: Gather Necessary Equipment

2. Connect the fiber optic cable from the wall outlet to the ONT's designated port.
3. Power on the ONT and wait for the status lights to stabilize (typically 2–5 minutes), .

Step 4: Connect the Router

1. Use an Ethernet cable to connect the ONT's LAN/Ethernet port to the router's WAN port.

Step 5: Optimize Your Network

• Firmware updates: Keep the ONT and router firmware current for security and performance .
• Router placement: Centralize the router to maximize Wi-Fi coverage.
• Wired connections: Use Ethernet for critical applications like gaming or video conferencing.
• Network security: Change default passwords and enable strong encryption protocols.
• Monitor performance: Test internet speeds regularly and adjust settings as needed .

Step 6: Testing and Activation

A technician may verify the fiber connection speed, Wi-Fi coverage, and device connectivity. For businesses, additional configuration may include VLANs, QoS settings, or integration with existing network infrastructure .
