GYTA53 Optical Cable Structure

GYTA53 is a loose tube, single steel wire armored outdoor optical cable designed for high-strength, waterproof, and long-distance communication applications.

Construction and Structure

The GYTA53 cable features a loose tube design with high-modulus plastic tubes filled with a water-blocking compound to protect the fibers. A central steel wire strength member provides mechanical stability, sometimes coated with polyethylene (PE) for additional fiber support. Loose tubes and fillers are stranded around the central member to form a dense, round core. The core is covered with an Aluminum Polyethylene Laminate (APL) layer, a thin PE inner sheath, a corrugated steel tape (CST) armor, and a hard PE outer sheath, offering mechanical strength, waterproofing, and UV resistance for outdoor use .

Fiber and Performance

GYTA53 typically uses G.652D single-mode fibers with a 9/125µm core/cladding diameter, supporting low attenuation (~0.22 dB/km at 1550 nm) and low chromatic dispersion (~18 ps/(nm·km)), . Fiber counts range from 2 to 288 fibers, with a maximum of 12 fibers per PBT tube. The cable is suitable for long-distance communication, backbone networks, CATV, and computer networks .

Mechanical and Environmental Properties

  • Tensile strength: Exceeds 1500 N
  • Crush resistance: 3000 N/10 cm
  • Operating temperature: -40°C to +60°C
  • Minimum bending radius: 20 times the cable diameter
  • Water-blocking compound prevents moisture intrusion
  • Corrugated steel tape armor provides crush and rodent protection
  • PE outer sheath ensures UV resistance and durability

Applications

GYTA53 is designed for direct burial in low-stress environments and duct installations, offering flexibility for long-distance pulls. Its robust construction makes it suitable for outdoor installations, including areas with high moisture, temperature variations, or potential mechanical stress. It is also used in inter-city communication networks and high-capacity backbone systems .

Summary

The GYTA53 optical cable combines mechanical strength, water resistance, and high fiber capacity, making it ideal for outdoor, long-distance, and high-performance communication networks. Its loose tube design, steel wire armor, and protective sheaths ensure durability, signal integrity, and reliable operation in harsh environments .
